ARTIST STATEMENT
The inspiration for my paintings comes from the beautiful places I've been, the animals I've seen, and a little imagination. Finding my subject matter is half the fun, and I take lots of pictures! I happily spend time hiking in the mountains, playing in the California surf, and watching thunderheads build over the Arizona desert. I could easily spend hours watching seals lying around on the beach, lizards doing "pushups", or a territorial hummingbird defending his turf. Rather than copying my photographs exactly, I'm more interested in creating a mood, depicting a scene you'd like to step into, or capturing the individual personality of an animal.
Because I feel that preserving these things is of incredible importance I donate a small percentage of my profits to environmental and wildlife organizations.
